Dave Spates is a part time landscape photographer, living in Denver, Colorado. He arrived in Colorado in 2013 and fell in love with the wildlife and scenic landscapes instantly. As an avid weekend hiker, he records cinematic footage of his adventures while also trying to frame unique photographs outdoors in the wilderness.
Dave began photography in 2010 when he purchased an entry level Nikon d3000 with the kit lens. Made a trip to Lake Tahoe and fell in love with the pictures. He then invested in a Nikon 300mm lens and started photographing birds in the wild. Although he still loves to photograph wildlife and birds, since he has moved to Colorado, it seems that the mountains are always calling.
Some of his favorite spots to hike and photograph in Colorado are Rocky Mountain National Park, alpine lakes, and from the summit of 13 and 14,000 ft peaks. His current goal is to visit and photography all the named Lakes in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, USA.
He edits all of his photographs in Lightroom and Photoshop CC, and edits all of his video footage in Adobe Premiere Pro.
When Dave is not working, he enjoys spending time with his daughter and family. Loves craft beer, and going to the gym.
