Nymph Lake (9,710′)

Nymph Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park

  • Date hiked: Several
  • Hiked from: Bear Lake Trailhead
  • Distance hiked: 1.1 Miles RT
  • Total elevation gain: 260 ft
  • Maintained trail: Yes
  • Overall Difficulty: 2/10
  • Overall Views: 4/10

Nymph Lake is just a short hike from Bear Lake trailhead in Rocky Mountain National Park. In the late spring through the Fall the lake is covered with thousands of lily pads.

In the winter though, Nymph Lake isn’t much of a site. Not much wind gets back there to blow off the snowfall. The 5-6 times I’ve been to Nymph Lake in the winter it was completely covered in snow.

The traffic at Nymph Lake is heavy. Not because of it’s sheer beauty, but because you have to pass it to get to the scenic lakes Dream and Emerald. Which are among the most popular alpine lakes in Rocky Mountain National Park.
