Marigold Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park
- Date hiked: 07/09/2020
- Hiked from: Bear Lake Trailhead
- Maintained trail: NO – Off trail hiking required. Minimal boulder and tree hopping. A little bit of bushwhacking depending on which way you go.
- Overall Difficulty: 7/10 – Slightly harder to reach than Odessa Lake due to route finding.
- Overall Views: 2/10 – Meh. Definitely not my favorite lake in Rocky Mountain National Park.
I saw the name Marigold Lake on a map, tried to do some research, and found absolutely nothing. Nothing anywhere. Once we arrived at Marigold Lake though it wasn’t that hard to believe why the internet is not actively promoting this less traveled alpine lake in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Arriving at Marigold Lake – Video
Marigold Lake is small, and shallow, which makes it more difficult to find off trail. If you are using a GPS though there shouldn’t be any issues. Not sure why Marigold was decided to be named but it was. There are so many more unnamed lakes and ponds that are so much bigger, deeper, and better views.
All alpine lakes in Rocky Mountain National Park are beautiful though. Don’t let the low rating I gave her dissuade you from visiting her. Actually, now that I think about it, you won’t be missing much….
